Lester J. “Les” DeCarlo

Age 90 of New Lenox, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Silver Cross Hospital.

Born February 19, 1930 in Harvey, IL, Les was a son of Frank and Mary (Née Giorgino) DeCarlo. He was raised in the Harvey and Riverdale area.

Les was retired from Wyman and Gordan after 35 years of dedicated service. He was also the owner of DeCarlo Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning Service for over 45 years as well as an employee of Formax for 20 plus years.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Lenox for 20 years, having Co-chaired their Easter breakfast for 12 years.

As a young boy, Les was known for picking wild asparagus and onions as well as selling fresh eggs in order to make money to help support his family.

Les enjoyed golfing, cleaning and waxing cars and he had a knack for keeping everything tidy and in order.

Regardless of his career or numerous professions he was involved with or how busy he was, Les always made certain there was an annual camping trip or vacation scheduled for his children.

In Les’ free time he enjoyed traveling to Italy, Ireland, Alaska and Arizona.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years: Virginia ”Ginny” (Née Kruse) Dailey DeCarlo, children: Lester P. (Patricia) DeCarlo, Brent T. (Jackie) DeCarlo, Donna R. (Mike) Skonicki and Arnold V. (Sharon) DeCarlo, step-daughter: Nancy (Denny) Proffitt, grandchildren: Sara, Anthony (Alyssa), Elizabeth (Jeff Kogler) DeCarlo, Steven Devine, Shana (Jordan) Powner, Andrea (Eric) Brazell and Nathan (Hope) DeCarlo, step-grandson: Joe (Alyssa) Proffitt, three great-grandchildren, two brothers: Joe DeCarlo and Paul Verderame, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Donna Keeler, Thomas (Ruth) Rodd, William (Pam) Rodd, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Les was preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years: Alice R. (Née Rodd) DeCarlo (1996), parents: Frank and Mary DeCarlo, siblings: Vince DeCarlo, Virginia Hubble and Frances DeCarlo, and great-granddaughter: Lou Lou DeCarlo.

A visitation for Lester J. DeCarlo will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 N. Cedar Road, New Lenox, IL 60451 on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M., Pastor Doug Hoag officiating.

Les will be laid to rest in Elmhurst Cemetery, Joliet, IL.
