Coleen Therese Frank, affectionately known to family as Midge, entered into eternal rest on June 4, 2026, at the age of 87, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Joliet, Illinois, on February 28, 1939, she was the cherished daughter of the late Leonard and Mary Frank (Nee) Mitzelfield. Midge attended Joliet Central High School and went on to dedicate her life to her family. As a devoted aunt, she became a second mother to her nieces and nephews, beautifully instilling the importance of faith and family.
Throughout her career, Midge brought her charitable spirit and strong work ethic to the Joliet Federal Savings/Chase Bank and Our Lady of Angels. As a faithful parishioner of St. Jude Catholic Church, she lived out her faith through active service, with a special heart for ministering to the lonely. She also found joy in sharing her love for the Blessed Mother, notably coordinating Our Lady of Fátima adorations. At home, she loved to bake and garden.
She is survived by her brother, Leonard Frank Jr. of Mesa, Arizona; brother-in-law, James (the late Mary Patricia) Byrne of Joliet, Illinois; and treasured nieces and nephews: Daniel (Laurie) Byrne of Monterey, California; Joseph (Lana) Byrne of Dallas, Texas; Carrie (Dominic) D’Amato of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Chip R. Herro; and Stacy Steele. She also leaves behind numerous precious grand and great-grandnieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Coleen was joyfully welcomed into paradise by her sister, Mary Patricia Byrne, and her niece, Kelly Byrne Konkol.
In lieu of flowers, masses offered for the repose of Coleen’s soul are greatly appreciated.
Memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate Memorial Donations, 3233 Morgans Point Road San Antonio, TX 78212 (oblatesusa.org/support-our-missions) or The Fatima Center, P.O. Box 1470, Buffalo, NY14240 (https://fatima.org/donate ).
