Earl R. Spurrier
Age 92 of Crest Hill, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Lightways Hospice Serious Illness and Care, with his loving family at his side.
Born February 20, 1933, in Davenport Iowa, Earl was a son of Clyde C. and Gladys I. (Née England) Spurrier.
He married Anna M. Jones on January 2, 1981, and together they shared over 44 years together living in Downers Grove, Kingman Arizona, Taylorville to Crest Hill.
Earl served as a troubleshooter for Electromotive General Motors and retired in 1992 after 30 years of dedicated service.
In his free time, Earl enjoyed researching and creating his family tree through Ancestry.com as well as tinkering with his HO trains.
He was a dedicated member of St. Ambrose and St. Anne Parish for ten years, a proud veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #15713.
Survivors include his loving wife, Anna M. Spurrier; children, Kevin (Linda) Spurrier, Susan (Tim) Kidwell, Elizabeth (Dave) Gerhard; stepchildren, Neil Lustyk, Tom (Margie) Lustyk and Nora (fiancé Jason Webb) King; seventeen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Gladys Spurrier; children, Christopher Spurrier, Ann (late Tom) Markgraff, Amy (late Shawn) Harmes, Patrick Spurrier, Catherine Spurrier, Joseph Spurrier; siblings, Clyde Lee Spurrier, Wanda White and Annabeth Stierwalt.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Blackburn Giegerich Sonntag Funeral Home -1500 Black Road, Joliet, IL. Prayers will follow on Friday October 24, 2025, at 9:20 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, then proceeding to St. Carlo Acutis Parish, 1705 Burry Circle Drive, Crest Hill, IL for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Anthony Nyamai, officiating.
Earl will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL following military honors and committal prayers.
