Edward G. “Eddie” Matuszewski
Age 91, of Crest Hill, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Lightways Hospice Home, with his loving wife by his side.
Born December 24, 1933, in Joliet, Ed was a son of Michael and Rose (née Zglabicka) Matuszewski.
He was a graduate of Joliet Township High School (Class of 1953) and served in the United States Army for two years.
On November 17, 1956, Ed married Lorraine M. Kozak in St. Thaddeus Catholic Church.
Ed worked as a printer for Will County Printing and Multi-color and later on part time for Fox Valley Press and Woodbine Golf Course.
He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and greatgrandchildren, and loved playing golf with his sons, grandsons, brothers and nephews. Eddie was fondly called “Papa” and “Jaja”.
Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Lorraine M. Matuszewski; sons, Ron (Bev) and Randy (Sally) Matuszewski; grandchildren, Lindsay (Peter), Scott (Kelsey), Ryan (Lauren), Kyle (Nicole), Kristin (Matt), Nicholas, Kevin and Amy; great grandchildren, Simon, Owen, Ruby, Silas, Connor, Dayton, Benton, Parker, Everett, Mackenzie, Emma, Connor, and Mallory; brother-in-law, Leonard (Jane) Kozak, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Rose Matuszewski; siblings, Anna, Mary, Katherine, Julia, Frank (in infancy), John, Victoria, Joseph, George, Michael and Stanley.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. until 10:20 a.m. at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Road, Joliet, IL 60435. Prayers will follow at 10:20 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, then proceeding to St. Carlo Acutis Parish (St. Ambrose Church), 1705 Burry Circle Drive Crest Hill, IL, for a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m., Rev. John Honiotes officiating.
Ed will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Crest Hill, IL following Committal Prayers.
