Geoffrey William Washington

Known to most as “Geof” or “Geo”, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026 at age 39.

Born March 8, 1987 in Chicago and raised in Joliet, Geof was a son of Kenneth Sr. and Jane (née Kopta) Cooper.

Geof graduated from Joliet Junior College with an Associate’s Degree in Arts.

While Geof earned a living as a Production Supervisor over the years, he always wrote music and performed his songs with an ambition to let the world hear his messages and uplift others facing challenges.

Geof lived and breathed creativity and writing was his constant companion. He poured his thoughts onto paper with honesty and intensity, shaping them into poems, reflections, and songs. Music was another language for him, a way to turn his inner world into something others could feel and share.

One of Geof’s great loves was expressing his life through his artwork, especially the body art he wore with pride. His many tattoos were more than ink; they were stories, memories, and pieces of his spirit made visible.

He was also an avid fitness enthusiast, and had a daily workout routine that included walking miles every day to maintain and improve his health. It was then, he’d blend both passions by walking and writing music.

Survivors include his loving mother and stepfather, Jane (Marc) Cooper; siblings, Kenneth Washington, Jr. (Shakira); Brittanie Bethea, Armani Bethea (Harry); Ron Wisely (Cynthia); stepfather, Elwood Bethea; stepbrother, Blake Washington; stepsisters, Chloe Washington and Grace Washington. He also leaves to mourn his passing; paternal grandmother, Evelyn Washington; maternal great grandmother, Betty Fassiotto; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many beloved extended family and friends around the country.

Geof was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Washington, Sr. (2026); maternal grandmother, Cheryl White, and great grandfather Edward Lakotich.
