Jack E. Alexander
Age 72 of Crest Hill, IL, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023 at University of Chicago Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Born January 16, 1951 in Joliet, Jack was a son of Robert and Harriet (Née Beebe) Alexander. He was raised in the Joliet area and married Stephanie “Stevie” Webster on May 18, 1975 in St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
Jack was a Chemical Operator and retired from Stepan Chemical in 2019 after 32 years of dedicated service.
He was a longtime member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, the Stone City VFW Post #2199, the Joliet Elks Lodge #296, the Teamsters Local #179 Joliet and blessed as a lung transplant recipient (August 20, 2013).
Jack was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp – “Once a Marine, Always a Marine.”
In his free time, Jack enjoyed meeting his buddies for breakfast, bowling, doing yardwork and watching the Chicago Bears and Cubs.
Survivors include his dedicated wife of 47 years, Stevie Alexander; loving daughters, Gwendolyn (Michael A.) Tedeschi and Elizabeth (Alex) Velasquez; grandson, Michael W. Tedeschi; brothers, Donald (the late Delores) Alexander, and Charles (Pamela) Alexander; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jackie (the late Buddy) Alexander, Pamela (the late John) Alexander, Michael (the late Thelma) Grzincic, Debbie (Jim Reber) Webster, Jane (late Michel) Guth, Michael (Sandy) Webster, Kevin (Lisa) Webster and Jill McAlpine; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and the Clearwater family.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Harriet Alexander; seven brothers and sisters: Robert Alexander, Eunice Loomis, Barbara Meyer, John Alexander, William (Lois) Alexander, Patricia Kelly and Thelma Grzincic.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2023 between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Road, Joliet, IL 60435. A Catholic Wake service will be at 6:45 p.m.
Funeral services will follow on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 9:45 a.m. with prayers in the funeral home chapel, then processing to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1705 Burry Circle Drive, Crest Hill, for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Kris Kituli officiating.
Jack will be laid to rest in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL following full military honors and committal services.
