Kovic, Judith Lynn “Judy” (Née Darin)
Age 79, passed away peacefully at The Timbers of Shorewood on Sunday, July 6, 2025, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease, with her family by her side.
Born February 15, 1946, in Joliet, Judy was the daughter of Jack and Helen (Née Malesich) Darin. She was raised in the Joliet area, was a graduate of Joliet Township High School (Class of 1964) and Joliet Junior College (Class of 1966).
She was retired from Illinois Bell Telephone after 30 years of dedicated service.
Judy was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Crest Hill, St. Raymond Cathedral Seniors Club, Joliet Rivals Ladies Auxiliary and KSKJ Lodge #29. In Judy’s free time, she enjoyed vacationing in Florida, bike riding on the Joliet trails, bingo, bowling, polka music, volunteering at the Rialto and attending family gatherings.
Survivors include her siblings; Jack, James, Richard (Beverly), Robert (Sue), Thomas (Marilyn), Michael (Kathy) Darin; loving aunt, Mary Darin; nephews and nieces, Andrew (Beth), Paul (Heather), Patrick (Jennifer) Darin, Christie (Zak) Randich and Kelly (Jimmy) Nickell, Ryan (Tammy) Martin, Robert (Sarah) Froom; aunt, Barbara Greenham Conway; step-daughter, Lynn (Stephen) Baginski; step-grandchildren, Drew and Kelly Baginski, Christina Kovic, numerous great nephews and nieces, cousins, friends and her dear friends from the Timbers of Shorewood.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; Jack A. (2015) and Helen (2005) Darin; husband, Robert Kovic (2016); grandparents; John and Katherine (Née Jaksa) Malesich, John B. and Mary (Née Baudino) Darin; aunts and uncles, John and Sid Malesich, Joseph Malesich, Anthony Darin, Jack and Constance Higgins; stepson, William Kovic; brother-in-law, Joseph (Colleen) Kovic; father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Mary Cvetkovich, and best friend, Jeanne Mance.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to the Staff of The Timbers of Shorewood, her doctors, Lightways Hospice staff: Jennifer, Ashley and Alicia and wonderful caregivers, Cecile, Elsie, Michelle, Carolyn and Carrie. They cared for Judy as though she were a member of their own family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until time of prayers at 10:30 a.m. at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Road, Joliet, IL 60435, then processing to St. Ambrose and St. Ann Catholic Church, 1705 Burry Circle Drive, Crest Hill, for a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Anthony Nyamai officiating.
Judy will be laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville, IL
