Marie F. Strysik
Age 87 of Crest Hill, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at Alden Courts of Shorewood.
Born October 18, 1935 in Lockport, IL, Marie was a daughter of Clarence and Fern (née Picton) Lamping. She was raised in the Elwood area and a graduate of Eaton Elementary School and Joliet Township High School, Class of 1952.
On June 1, 1957, Marie married Joseph J. Strysik in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Joliet.
Together, they raised their children in the Crest Hill area.
Marie was active and a longtime member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and their Council of Catholic Women, Richland Grade School PTA and the Caterpillar Girls Club.
She worked at Caterpillar Incorporated and then retired from Crane Kemlite after many years of dedicated service.
Marie enjoyed traveling; having visited all states, camping, gardening, canning grape jelly and ceramics. She loved giraffes and had an extensive collection of them.
Survivors include her children, Karen (Paul) Weinert, Beth (Kevin) Reinhard and Mike (Pam) Strysik; grandchildren, Melissa, Christopher (Rachel), Lauren (Austin), Nickolas and Michael; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Hunter and Elizabeth; sister, MaryAnn (late Donald) Cockream; sisters-in-law, Marian (late Ray) Gornik, Lorraine(Chuck) Balstrode, Carol (late Ray) Beno, Nancy (late Jim) Borio, Pat (late Clarence) Lamping; best friend Shirley Daniel and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Joseph J. Strysik; parents, Clarence E. and Fern Lamping and brother, Clarence W. Lamping.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Road, Joliet, IL 60435, with prayers following in the funeral home chapel, then processing to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1705 Burry Circle Drive, Crest Hill, IL, for a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 a.m., Rev. Anthony Nyamai officiating.
Marie will be laid to rest beside her husband in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Romeoville, IL.
