Suzanne M. “Suzie” Gentile
Age 70, of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Lightways Serious and Illness Care, with her loving family near her side.
Born July 7, 1956 in Joliet, Suzie was the daughter of Richard S. and Anna M. (née Folena) Bortoli.
She was a graduate of St. Francis Academy High School (Class of 1974) and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Shorewood, IL.
Suzie served as the billing manager at ENT Surgical Associates and retired with over 20 years of dedicated service.
In her free time, Suzie delighted in cooking and baking—especially her famous banana cake, a cherished family tradition now lovingly carried on by her grandchildren. She enjoyed cheering on the Chicago Bears, listening and dancing to R&B music, and, more recently, found a love for country music as well.
She loved the ocean and found deep joy in time spent with her family, especially their trips to Florida and the many adventures shared at Disney World.
Suzie had a special charm and a gentle spirit. A devout Catholic, she lived her faith with grace. Our dear Mama and Nonna will be profoundly missed by all who loved her.
Survivors include her devoted children; Dave (Ashley) Gentile and Angela (Robert) Leasure; Grandchildren; Adrianna Gentile, Isabella Leasure and Dylan (Faith) Leasure; loving sisters’, Rozanne “Rose” Landis and Marianne “Mimi” (Steve) Longoria; niece and nephews, Ashley Hylka, William (Kim) Landis, Michael (Amber) Landis and Alex (Bree) Hylka; numerous cousins and many good friends, too many to mention.
Suzie was preceded in death by her loving parents; Richard S. (2014) and Anna M. (2020) Bortoli, and brother-in-law, James Landis.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of Lightways Hospice for their compassionate care of Suzie during these past days.
