Theodore M. Drogosz

Age 87 of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on March 15, 2024.  Born May 22, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois, Ted was the son of Michael and Loretta (Née Michalek) Drogosz.  

He was raised in Chicago and later lived in Des Plaines, Illinois, and Tucson, Arizona. He attended Wright Junior College and Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, receiving a Bachelor’s degree 17 years after he began college.  

He married Carol Siok May 16, 1959.  

He began working at Illinois Bell in 1956 and retired from there in 1992, holding various positions in the IT department, including systems analyst and project manager. 

Ted was in the National Guard and was an active member of St. Zachary Catholic Parish for 30 years. 

His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, photography, and digital editing on his computer. 

He had celebrated over 30 years of sobriety. 

In June 2000, Ted came to Chicago for his 50 year 8th grade reunion, and became reacquainted with classmate Barbara Grochowina who was living in Reno.

They married on May 1, 2001 and then resided in Tucson.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Drogosz; his daughters, Annette (Brian) Bessler of Schaumburg, Illinois and Cathy Halvorson of Santa Ynez, California; grandchildren, Thomas (Marjorie) Rizzo, Kristen (Brian) Madson and Griff Halvorson; great-grandchildren, Andrew Shadel, Jack Rizzo, Connor Rizzo; sister Veronica (Bill) Van Buren and brother George (Karen) Drogosz, and many nieces and nephews.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Loretta Drogosz, and his brother Paul Drogosz.

A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at St Zachary Catholic Parish, 567 W. Algonquin Road – Des Plaines, IL 60016 from 10 a.m. followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m.
