Virginia I. “Ginny” Dailey DeCarlo

Age 94, of Luxemburg, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2026, with her family at her side.

Born March 2, 1931, in Loganville, WI, Ginny was a daughter of Edgar C. and Edna L. (née Bretsch) Kruse.

She was a graduate of Reedsburg High School (1949) and Silver Cross School of Nursing in 1952. She furthered her studies and obtained a bachelor’s degree of Health Arts in 1980 from the College of St. Francis, Joliet, IL.

Ginny was a registered nurse for 40 years, having spent most of her career at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, serving in the surgical recovery department and the outpatient unit. Ginny loved being a nurse. During her last few years, she funded an annual nursing student scholarship at Bellin College in Green Bay, WI, and so enjoyed getting to connect with the recipients.

Ginny was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Lenox, IL.

She attended St. John’s Lutheran Church, Luxemburg, WI, after moving to Wisconsin to live with her daughter and family.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy (Denny) Proffitt of Luxemburg, WI; grandson Joseph (Alyssa) Proffitt of Green Bay, WI; two great-grandchildren, Kaia and Cash Proffitt; sister-in-law, Patty Kruse, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Dailey (1972), her second husband, Lester J. DeCarlo (2021); parents, Edgar and Edna Kruse; brothers, Carl (Mary) Kruse and Robert Kruse and sisters, Lucille Fox and Donna Keeler.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church located at 508 N. Cedar Road – New Lenox, IL 60451, Pastor Doug Hoag officiating.

Ginny will be laid to rest in Maplewood Cemetery, New Lenox, IL following a private committal service.
